In 1958, Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) had a single runway and a small terminal. Several major upgrades and refurbishments have transformed the airport into a modern, state-of-the-art facility with three runways. One of the airport's three terminal buildings is the second largest in the world. Each year, this gateway to China serves over 78.5 million passengers.
